Ten Years Gone

Ten years had passed by. Kagome was now 25 years old. Naraku had been defeated and the Shikon no Tama was complete. Now Kagome lived in Modern day Tokyo. A lot had happened since she was merely a 15 year old school girl. A lot.

Kagome sighed as she separated the frozen patties of meat and placed them onto the grill. Another day, another dollar. She tucked the tail of her Wacdonald’s shirt into her khaki pants.

“Kagome.” Her manager approached her, looking very displeased. “How many times have I told you to clean out that grease trap today?”

Kagome gave Hojo a nervous smile. “A few?”

“Damn, woman. Once should be enough!” Hojo exclaimed. “Now you had better shape up or ship out! I know you have children to feed, so you had better start taking this job seriously. Otherwise you’ll never make assistant manager!”

Kagome nodded. “I’m sorry. I understand.”

Kagome breathed a sigh of relief when she realized it was now 5:00. Time to go home! She grabbed her purse and walked out to her rusty, baby blue Pacer*.

Kagome smiled as she pulled up into the parking lot of the trailer park. Her son, Miroku, was playing in the driveway with his pellet gun. The child was a spitting image of his father, except for his hair, which had been shaped into a fashionable mullet. Kagome frowned as she thought of his father. Damn him. Leave me with all of these kids to feed while he runs off with a 13 year old. Kagome frowned. She still had yet to see any child support from him.

Kagome thought back to 10 years ago. With the Shikon jewel complete and Naraku defeated, Inuyasha had went to hell with Kikyo, as promised. Sango had met a man and fell in love with him. A man. If you could call him that, considering he dressed like a woman and was actually a dog demon. Sango and Sesshomaru? Who’d have thought.

That’s when Kagome had somewhat reluctantly agreed to bare Miroku’s children. She felt so sorry for him. He was so sad and alone and she could not stand to see him in such a depression. She had no one to love, so what would it hurt? She brought both Miroku and Shippo to live in her world.

Unfortunately, Miroku met up with a bubbly 13 year old shortly after the birth of their third child. He took up with her instantly, and now the two owned their own Hooter’s in Tokyo.

Shippo had done well at first. Because of his lovable appearance, he had gotten many acting jobs. Everyone adored him and he eventually landed a role in a sit com. However, once Shippo turned 12, the show was canceled and he was unemployed. That was the beginning of the poor kitsune’s downfall. Kagome had tried to help him, but Shippo was far too addicted to drugs to accept anyone’s offer for help.

Now all Kagome had were her three illegitimate children to love. Other than that, she was all alone.

Kagome abruptly woke up from her sleep and sat up, sweating profusely. The hanyou noticed her sudden anxiety and rushed to her side.

“Kagome? What’s the matter?” He watched the young girl, wide-eyed.

“Inuyasha! You’re still here!”

“Yeah…what’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I’m just glad I was dreaming.” She smiled brightly.

Miroku and Sango had made their way to where Kagome had been sleeping, sensing her distress.

Miroku eyed the girl momentarily. “Are you okay, Kagome?”

“STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!”
